If you've ever wanted to contribute to Silex but weren't sure where to start, now is a good moment.
We just went through our "good first issue" list and reworked it so the entries are genuinely small, clear and useful. No busywork, no issues that secretly need three days and deep knowledge of the codebase: real, self-contained tasks you can pick up.
A few good ones to start with, including a small accessibility cluster:
- #1736 Editor: nudge when images are missing alt text (accessibility)
- #1664 Templates missing skip navigation link (accessibility)
- #1665 Missing focus management on burger menu overlay (accessibility)
- #1734 Make page title and html lang automatic for published sites
- #1692 Add a <time> element to tag name settings

A few things worth saying clearly:
- Beginners are genuinely welcome. First open source contribution? Perfect, that's exactly who these are for.
- You won't be on your own. Comment on an issue to claim it, ask questions, and we'll help you through the setup and the review. Mentoring is part of the deal.
- Small is fine. A doc fix, a tiny bug, a clearer error message: all of it counts and all of it ships.
Silex is a free software project, and we build it as a community. Every contribution, however small, makes the tool a bit more of a shared common good. If one of these speaks to you, jump in and say hi.
